Sooo.....looking around online for places to send writing into (not necessarily about stripping...), and I stumble upon the fact that Bust, one of the magazines I like but not really as much as I used to (for the record), is sick of getting stories about "I was a stripper." I guess one stripper story is enough, huh? I mean, you've read one, you've read 'em all! Cause we all have the same experience, same lives, same history...
P.S. I'm back from my break :)

God forbid strippers have a voice!
Welcome back!
thanks lady! :)
I'm a photographer and tried to submit a story to them with a fashion designer that has taken out ad space from them every single month. They gave me a big N.O. And were kinda bitchy about it too. I'm no longer such a big fan of Bust.
I once submitted an entire book I wrote about my experiences as a birth mother and the adoption process...nobody wanted to hear about it. They said that those stories are best told as fiction, not auto biography. Because, I guess it's better to hear about serious matters from a fiction writer than the person who actually experienced every breath of it. But I digress.
As for the stripper stories...I have never found a place where strippers are willing to talk about their job...only you and a handful of other blogs I read. I find it super interesting...stuff I've never heard before.
You can make a load of money by being a professional blogger. Just check out this chick: She makes enough money for her and her husband to stay home. www.dooce.com
Make your own path girl!
I have one more comment. I read three blogs that come from strippers...and none of the women have ever posted a photo of themselves. Is there a reason for this? I'm not expecting nudity...but why not a head shot, or just a photo of you riding your bike?
Just a thought.
coach b., one of the things about working in the sex industry is that i don't necessarily want the entire world to know what i do. my family doesn't know, for example, and i don't want to be outed by a picture i posted on my blog. for some people it might be a safety thing too - if i'm talking about shitty customers or managers or co-workers, i don't necessarily want them to find out - or to be able to identify me that easily outside of work.
anyway, i can't speak for other people but that's my situation.
hey coach b,
maybe it's fun and cute- even hip to teach pole dancing, but, go out and tell the PTA that your are a stripper and see how cute you are to them. Tell the group at church, temple, school, the support groups and your current employer (who is not in the strip industry ) that you are now or have ever stripped and watch yourself become excluded from the group.
The stigma that comes with putting yourself out there in the world as a stripper and god forbid living to speak of it intelligently ( breaking stereotypes upsets people) hasn't gone away.
Ttease-welcome back
did Palin remind you of techniques that work on customers?
She reminds me of a few strippers I knew that could really fricken hustle!
christopher - ha! well, she did wink a lot - that's something i do :) and she dumbed it down quite a bit. so yeah, i guess so - what made you think of that?
